Construction works of the first all international Residential Women University in Asia, called the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chittagong has been stalled for last two years and nine months.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a raid conducted at city's Pahartali CDA Market area unearthed a clandestine forged certificate-making unit and detained an offender apart from seizure of different equipments including computer and huge false certificates. The detainee was identified as Mohammad Ismail, 52, son of Mohammad Wajiullah, hailed from village Senbug under Noakhali district. The RAB men seized a certificate-making machine, a printer, computer, various kinds of stamps, papers including huge false certificates of Comilla Education Board, Chittagong Education Board, National University, Chittagong University and Madarasha Board during the drive. World Bank (WB) president Robert Zoellick arrived in Dhaka Saturday on a two-day visit. The WB chief's special plane flew in to Dhaka's ZIA International airport from India at about 5:30 pm. He had earlier visited Pakistan. Zoellick was greeted by finance adviser AB Mirza Azizul Islam, finance secretary Mohammad Tareque, Economic Relations Division secretary Aminul Islam Bhuiyan and other government high officials. U.N. envoy Ibrahim Gambari arrived in Myanmar on Saturday for his second effort to reconcile the ruling military and its pro-democracy opponents. But he will also have to deal with the junta's plan to expel the top U.N. diplomat in the country.
