A Chittagong court on Sunday framed charges against former Jamat legislator Shahjahan Chowdhury and Faisal Morshed Khan, son of former minister M Morshed Khan, in connection with a graft case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC). District Session Judge Mohammad Mojnul Ahsan framed the charge and fixed November 6 for hearing of the case. Faisal Morshed Khan of Pacific Motors was involved in the case for aiding Shajahan in hiding the wealth in terms of costly car imported free of duty. Members of the Navy during a Sunday raid seized 400 sacks of urea fertilizer while being smuggled to Myanmar from Saint Martin Coast area near the Bay of Bengal. They also detained eight boatmen from the spot.

HC stays graft case against Sk Hasina
UNB, Dhaka

The High Court Sunday stayed the operation of the Anti-Corruption Commission graft case filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on charge of taking Tk 3 crore in kickbacks on a power-plant deal. Responding to a writ petition filed by the detained Awami League chief, Hasina, a High Court Division Bench also issued rule upon the ACC and also the government to explain why the placing of the case under the Emergency Powers Rules "should not be declared illegal".
