Cyclone may hit today : Great danger signal 9

The cruel cyclone 'SIDR' over east central Bay and adjoining areas has been formed into a severe cyclone on Wednesday evening and is feared to batter Bangladesh coast Thursday. The Met office Wednesday evening sounded great danger signal No. 10 for Mongla port and great danger signal 9 for Chittagong and Cox's Bazar respectively as a severe storm in the Bay of Bengal is expected to make landfall on Thursday.

State honour for Yusuf Chy demanded at civic mourning

A civic gathering to condole the demise of founder and Chairman of The Purbokone Limited Alhajj Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury ended here with the call to grant him state honor.
Speakers at the meeting proposed naming a road in Chittagong city after the celebrity, publication of his biography from Bangla Academy, introduction of a chair after his name at the department of Communication and Journalism of Chittagong University and naming of a dormitory after him at Chittagong Veterinary University.
Highlighting the life and works of Yusuf Chowdhury the speakers said that the society needed a progressive personality like him. They called him a self made man who started his journey with a small business.

Emergency to be lifted if situation favours : C A

Chief Advisor Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed Wednesday said decision to lift the state of emergency would be taken when a congenial atmosphere would prevail in the country. Chittagong beat Dhaka by 3 wickets Sylhet defeat Barisal by 14 runs
