The cruel 'SIDR' hurricane started to pound the Khulna-Barishal coast at around 5 pm Wednesday with a speed of 220 kph leaving at least one person killed, several dozens missed and scores injured.The first part of the hurricane SIDR that battered in the southern coastal parts of the country left a trail of destruction, according to preliminary accounts.Hundreds of dwelling houses were raged to the ground in different districts as cyclone lashed with heavy speed of its velocity disrupting communications and power supply. Panic grips coastal people as SIDR moves closer

Citizens here in Chittagong and its surrounding areas, mainly residing in coastal belts, passed amid uncertainty on Wednesday fearing reappearance of April 29, 1991. The night of gloomy, anxious apprehension is likely to widen keeping the vast population of coastal areas into total uncertainty as the hurricane SIDR is yet to hit any particular area of the country till the time of dispatching this report on Thursday evening.

Chandgaon Residential Area, an aristocratic uptown, developed by Chittagong Development Authority (CDA), has recently turned into a fast growing commercial zone in true sense, showing thumb to the CDA directives.
A section of greedy owner rent out their residential buildings and flats to different persons and firms for commercial purposes violating rules and regulations set by the CDA to be an owner of a residential plot.

Benazir calls to replace Musharraf

Pervez Musharraf was finalizing a caretaker government Thursday, while his two main rivals opened talks on forming an alliance against him and political unrest worsened, leaving two children dead, officials said. Unidentified protesters opened "indiscriminate gunfire" in a violence-ridden neighborhood of Karachi, killing two boys, police officer Aslam Gujjar said. The violence happened in the city's Chakiwara neighborhood where supporters of opposition leader Benazir Bhutto have clashed with police since Thursday morning. The protesters, angry at Bhutto's current house arrest in the eastern city of Lahore, traded fire with police who also used tear gas to try and disperse them.
No undue harassment of Businessmen: CA assures
Dhaka, Nov 15 (UNB) - Formally inaugurating country's biggest apparel show, Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed Thursday said his government is determined to make sure that businessmen don't have to be victim of unjust harassment at any stage.
He also assured his business audience that the government is pursuing through diplomatic, business as well as legislative channels for the passage of a US bill for market access in the United States.
