Killer Quamrul nabbed Sohel killing case to be shifted to speedy tribunal

The sensational killing of primary school student Sohel Rana case is learnt to have been shifted to Speedy Trial Tribunal soon.
The decision to shift the case was extended when police arrested Quamrul, accused killer of Sohel Rana from city's Bahadderhat area on Friday morning . "The latest arrest is a breakthrough and I hope that the cause for the killing will positively come to light" Muzibur Rahman Mazmuder told People's View on Friday night.
Arms recovered from hide out of Kirich Babul

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) -7 recovered three Light guns, six round of bullets from a hideout of the arrested top terrorist Kirich Babul in city's Bakalia Masterpool area early Friday.
Kirich Babul during one day long quiz confessed that he had arms and ammunition and those were hidden in his rickshaw garage adjacent to his residence.

Quasem Chowdhury got highest 679 votes than his contestant Halim Bin Rahman who bagged only 73 votes and Vice chairman Dr Omar got the second highest 604 votes.

Review committee opposes Asia Energy's coal export proposal

Asia Energy Corporation Friday said the Phulbari Coal Mine project is unlikely to be economically viable if the government does not allow coal export. President urges cardiologists to launch mass awareness

USAID provides additional $5M for emergency food

The U.S. government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Friday announced it will provide $5 million to the Would Food Program (WFP) for the emergency operation in Bangladesh in the aftermath of Cyclone Sidr.
The WFP emergency operation will provide immediate relief assistance to over 2.2 million affected people and help restore livelihoods and rural community infrastructures in Bangladesh.

Plane crash in Turkey 56 dead

An Atlasjet plane crashed shortly before it was due to land in southwest Turkey early Friday, killing all 56 people on board, the airline's chief executive said. The cause was not immediately known.
A rescue helicopter reached the plane's wreckage in a mountainous region near the town of Keciborlu, in Isparta province, and reported that no one had survived the crash, airline CEO Tuncay Doganer said.
Pieces of wreckage and personal belongings were strewn across a vast area and rescue crews were seen placing the dead into body bags. Television news channels showed footage of rescue workers in bright yellow jackets walking around the plane's fuselage, which lay amid rocks and trees on a slope slightly shrouded in fog.
Workers brought in heavy machinery to clear trees and make access to the site easier, state-run news agency Anatolia reported.
