Surrender inevitable

Today is the 13th  day of the month of   victory in the liberation war of Bangladesh against the vicious Pakistani occupation forces.
Dhaka, the capital of the East Pakistan  besieged all around by the combined allied forces .
Dhaka is a city awaiting destruction . No one knows how much damage the city will sustain when the Indian army opens its attack here but the Pakistani Commanders are determined to fight  as long as they can from their camp on the outskirts and positions in public buildings--- the scene here is strangely peaceful in spite of the approach of Indian force .
In the face of unprecedented attack Yahya in a message informed M A Malik and Niazi – You have now reached a stage where further resistance is no longer humanly possible nor will it possibly serve any useful purpose . It will only lead to further loss of life and destruction . You should take all necessary measures to stop the fighting and preserve the lives of all armed forces personnel, all those from West Pakistan and loyal elements – according to sources from the book Pakistan’s Crisis in Leadership.
 General Manik Shaw in a microwave sent third message that allied forces captured Dhaka city and it is indispensable to surrender and there is no gain for unnecessary blood shed.
But the troops will be treated as Geneva convention.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmed called information Secretary Anwarul Haq, law maker Abdul Mannan and M R Akhter Mukul.
The prime minister told them to campaign that people will not take the law into their own hand as all the criminals will be punished by trial.

Rice laden Indian Naval ship arrives Ctg Port

Indian Naval ship Gharial with 800 metric tons of rice for the tropical cyclone Sidr affected people arrived at Chittagong   Port on Wednesday afternoon.
The ship with 224 crews including its commander MP Anil Kumar and 12 officers berthed at jetty number-2 of Chittagong port at around 1:45 pm.

Top terrori Nur killed with RAB encounter at Moheskhali

District top terrorist Syed Noor was killed in an encounter with the members of the RAB and his associates  at Moheshkhali coastal upazila of Cox’sbazar   on early Wednesday.
The crime bustling elite force also recovered four light guns , one shorter gun and some bullets after the encounter .

Turn edu instts into centre of excellence, Not politics: CA

DU teachers demand acquittal of fellows, students

Teachers of Dhaka University Wednesday demanded acquittal of all detained teachers and students of the university now in jail following the August 20-22 student unrest on and around the campus.
“Yesterday, a group of general teachers met the vice-chancellor. They demanded acquittal of the detained teachers and students,” acting Dean of Social Sciences Faculty Prof. AAMS Arefin Siddique told UNB yesterday evening, UNB reports from Dhaka.

HC declares Justice Aziz’s appointment illegal as CEC

The High Court Wednesday declared “illegal” the appointment of Justice MA Aziz Chief Election Commissioner in his immediate-past tenure as CEC, sealing the scope for government to allow any chosen person to concurrently hold two constitutional posts.
A division bench, comprising Justice ABM Khairul Haque and Justice Abdul Awal, pronounced the judgment, making its twin-rule absolute, UNB reports from Dhaka.

Israeli-Palestinian peace talks resume after 7-year freeze

Israelis and Palestinians resumed peace negotiations for the first time in nearly seven years Wednesday, trying to reconcile conflicting claims and clashing dreams in a bid to end six decades of conflict. The talks went ahead despite a new outbreak of violence in the Gaza Strip. Early Wednesday, Palestinian militants fired 16 homemade rockets toward Israel, causing minor damage lightly wounding one woman, Israeli officials said.

US blocking progress at Bali climate talks : Gore

Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore on Wednesday accused the U.S. of blocking progress at U.N. climate talks in Bali but said a breakthrough was possible in the final days of the conference.
"Some of the reports are worrisome, but I know from experience ... that when breakthroughs do occur, they usually happen in the last 48 hours," Gore told reporters in Sweden. "I hope there will be a change on the part of some countries, including and most importantly my own, the United States."
